Firday, August 5, 1921

He Saw Peoria as City Grew

Amand Schneblin, age 86 years, 524 Warner avenue, for the last 54 years a resident of Peoria, died at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home after an illness lasting two days of what is known as influenza of the bowels. Up until yesterday Mr. Schneblin's condition was not considered serious, attending physicians say.

Came Here in 1866

Born in Alsace-Lorraine in 1834, Mr. Schneblin came to Peoria at the age of 32 years when Peoria was at that time a straggling village on the bank of the Illinois river. Mr. Schneblin opened a shoemaker shop in the Bryan building, Fulton and Adams street which he conducted for many years.

In 1871 Mr. Schneblin was married to Miss Magdalena Strouhl of Peoria, who survives him. Had the husband lived until November, the couple would have celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Funeral Saturday

Mr. Schneblin was a member of St. Boniface parish and of St. Joseph's Benevolent society for many years.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Magdalena Schneblin, five daughters, Mrs. Ira Broyhill, Mrs. Collum Ryan, Mrs. Bernard Ley, Mrs. Clarence Herman and Mrs. Michael B. Crowley, all of Peoria, and four sons, August Schneblin of Beardstown, Ill.; Ernest Schneblin of Chicago, and Charles and Henry of Peoria.

Funeral services will be held at the residence, 524 Warren avenue, at 8:30 o'clock Saturday morning, and from St. Boniface church at 9 o'clock. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Joseph's cemetery. Friends are invited to attend the services.
