| Note | Schnebelen is a common name in the area of Roderen,
Leimbach and Rammersmatt, in the present-day
departement of Haut-Rhin, France (former province of
Alsace). A census taken in 1659 shows people by the
name of Schnebelin in the towns of Thann, Diefmatten,
Soppe-le-Bas, Cernay, Balschwiller, and Roderen, all in
Haut-Rhin. Volume 1 of Cornelia Schrader-Muggenthaler's
The Alsace Emigration Book lists people with the names
Schnebelen and Schnebelin from Hombourg, Sentheim,
Guewenheim, Bantzenheim and Cernay, again all in
Haut-Rhin. |
