| Note | Then there were two more boys whose ages I never knew. But tragedy seemed to plague the family. First they came across in a sailing vessel and were either six or eight weeks coming across. They came to live in a house on the land which was later the William Strasser farm.

...the father was in a hurry to get to the gold fields. But tragedy again struck our family. The largest part of the wagon train left Independence one day. And a day or so later, before the rest could get started, Cholera broke out and the father and the two boys, whose names and ages I do not know, took it and soon passed away. |
